One of the main reasons why I love 9th Wonder is that he does whole albums with rappers. I wish more Hip Hop artists dedicated one album to one producer. I like the cohesiveness of these kinds of projects as it makes for a more streamlined sound and vision. This time, 9th is joining forces with Jean Grae Wondertwins style and turning into the album Jeanuis.
Another thing that has to be mentioned is their recreation of classic Hip Hop album covers. The one that didn’t turn out so well was Only Built 4 Cuban Linx. Everything else is spot on, my favorites being the Black Sheep and Das EFX album covers.
I’m officially announcing ALSD’s support for Barack Obama.
Sure he cites the usual suspects. Jay-Z and Kanye seem like the obvious “politician” answer but this man could be our next president. I never thought that in my life we would see a potential candidate for presidency of the United States of America listen to Hip Hop. That’s worlds colliding at the highest level. Now if he had said he listened to Only Built 4 Cuban Linx and/or Hell Hath No Fury, I would be out campaigning right now.
I voted in the last two elections and lost both times. Let’s hope that the third times a charm.
I really don’t have to say much about this. I mean this video pretty much has all the ingredients to make me go totally bonkers. It was Ghostface’s debut album, which was his best album to date and NOT Supreme Clientèle like almost everyone else seems to think. It was RZA on the obscure sampling tip, it was Rae, Cappa and Ghost verbally murdering said beat, it had the Force MD’s on the hook. And if that wasn’t enough, the video was fucking Speed Racer!
Oh by the way, did I mention the video was fucking Speed Racer?! Japanese Anime + Hardcore East Coast 90′s Hip Hop = My head exploding upon seeing this for the first time.
Zoo York is a very cool brand but sometimes I feel the clothing line might be heading in the direction of being sold at Macys and Nordstrom and having every kid in middle school wearing Zoo York gear while running the mile during gym class. It’s a term I like to call “Ecko’ed”. Nice promotion for Big Doe Rehabthat has Zoo York, Ghost and Def Jam combining forces. The shirt displays the various aliases used by Ghost over the years. The board also looks very dope, makes you think twice about skating with it. Limited to 500 pieces.
Along the same lines of “ODB: Words of Wisdom” from Chris Rock’s comedy CD Bigger & Blacker. Ghost kindly dropping gems for all you smart-dumb cats out there. Take good notes kids.
Personally, i’m waiting for Chef Raekwon’s Chinese Cooking Tips & Techniques.
Okay this might be the fucking coolest thing ever. Are you fucking kidding me?! Look a this thing, it’s probably the most badass action figure of all time. I mean it has Ghostface in classic bathrobe, matching Wally’s and the absolute icing on the cake…the legendary Eagle bracelet! Yeah, yeah, sure this thing cost five bills, but I think it’s a small price to pay to be able to take “Little Ghost” out of your bag at any time and rap his verse from “Criminology”. Got $500 laying around? Go here, buy it and be the envy of everyone you know and everyone you’ll ever meet.
You get this, and get MF Doom’s action figure and you’re ready to re-enact the “Swift & Changeable” ablum by Ghost + Doom Robot Chicken style! If and when it ever comes out that is.
Check out the 12 minute version of “Milk Em” by Ghostface + Ricci Rucker. Ric posted it on the Asisphonics board(I was a Mod there once, just sayin) as an MP3 for your downloading pleasure. So head over there and get it while it’s still up. Shit’s absolutely ridiculous. Enjoy.
