Hey guys remember Street Wear? Remember that? Man those days bring me back. I think it would be a fun idea to look back at Street Wear when it was still the “in” thing, you know for nostalgias sake. And to serve as a cruel reminder to myself how how much money I spent on those clothes and more importantly, how stupid I must’ve looked in them.
Here’s a Swagger shirt I bought which featured Iggy and Big-O of the Japanese rap group Shakkazombie(and co-owners of Swagger)and Lupe FIasco. I wanted to get the white version of the shirt but all that was available through my endless searching was the gross neon yellow one. But more important than the color, was the fit as it would’ve been nice to get one in my actual size. The shirt I ended up getting was way too long.(The particular site I ordered from was one that didn’t display the measurements of the garment) It was so long in fact when I tried it on before I put on any pants, it looked like I was attending a birthday slumber party for a 9 year old girl.
I sold it shortly after that and now looking back at the pics I took of it for the eBay auction(that tag next to my shirt is my eBay user name) I still really like the art on it and think it holds up as one of the best designed shirts of this last “Street Wear” era.

A Love Supreme Dreaming supports progressive asians, not superficial “Azn’s”. Far East Movement this is not, kids.
Talking about the beginnings of Staple, getting hustled on the streets of NY and where Darrin Hudson is at now:
On street wear trends and its eventual evolution away from “mens wear” and why so many asians are into street wear:
On Hip Hop’s influence, not knowing the names of Roots songs and being a backpacker for life:
On not drinking since 1993, touring with Nas and how “image” is part of the “business”:

Jeff Staple posted a picture on his Twitter of the cover of the latest issue of Reed Pages. The issues cover story is on Erykah Badu who Jeff spent a few days on tour with. Very happy to see a new issue is being made as I absolutely loved the first one.
When the magazine first debuted, it was suppose to be a quarterly and I heavily considered getting a subscription but opted not to because I didn’t think they would publish them on a timely matter. It seems I was right as the last issue came out in the middle of 2009. That’s not a knock against them as I understand how difficult it is to produce a magazine in a timely manner, especially for Jeff and Staple Design guys who have a lot on their plate as it is.
That said, I’m glad to know they are grinding out another one. Can’t wait for the issue to come out. Long live print!

I like John Mayer. I like Staple Design. Nice reworking of the old Bayer logo. Staple is one of my favorite clothing brands and when they collaborate with someone I am personally a fan of, I’m all for it. I’m gonna be super self referential here but it seems I’ve blogged about John Mayer more times than I realized. Not that there’s anything wrong with that but I just find it a tad surprising. Well, let’s add another blog entry to that list shall we?
Oh and just in case you’re wondering, I’m not an affluent white suburban female college student in her mid-twenties.

$100 bills were being used exclusively as Kleenex tissue and toilet paper during this photo shoot. The influence in this picture is immense. The pillars of Japanese street wear. Nigo + HF. Hypebeast nerds should build a shrine surrounding this photo and kneel and pray to it on a daily basis. Recognize the gods.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz…Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz…..Zzzzzzzzzzz… Huh?! What?! *yawn* Oh, yeah…New Kiks Tyo “Sneaker & A Girl” tees. These just don’t garner the same excitement as they use to. Long gone are the days of Aki Hoshino and it seems Hypebeast geeks haven’t been the same since. Nevertheless, pre-order them here and here. Now let me go back to sleep.

I’ve done about a dozen of these Kiks Tyo & A Girl posts. It’s hot scantily clad Japanese girls either wearing or posing with some sneaker. The Yuko Ishida one is lame, the Shanadoo one is cool. Bla, bla, bla, bla. Get em here and here.

New Dope Truckers caps but this time the Dope logo is in 3M reflective material. I’m assuming this is specifically for all the hipsters so they won’t get hit by oncoming traffic while riding their fixed gear bikes in super tight pants in the wee hours of the morning trying to get in line for exclusive goods. These will be available on January 21st @ What’s Good? Kuala Lampur and Singapore.

A trip to San Francisco always means a visit to Kinokuniya book store and a visit to Kinokuniya book store means money disappearing from my wallet. I decided not to buy my usual issues of Street Jack and Bape catalog and instead, went ahead and picked up this hefty beauty.

Happy New Years!
