Candyman’s song is a classic. I can remember the girls at school singing the chours in the hallway to whatever boy they were going out with. And having Tone Loc start your song, immediately grabbed peoples attention.
Who doesn’t love Betty Wright. This is one/the greatest songs about losing your virginity. Great bass, great drums and the guitar player just strumming away.

    Great pictures

Yeah, the bassline is what sets “Tonight is the Night” off. When I was a kid, for a long time I thought this was Tone Loc cause he starts the song off. I was like “Why does Tone Loc sound so different?” Then I saw the video.

Yeah, this is a double sample — Tonight is the night, AND lyrics of Ooh Boy by Rose Royce. I have a great South African version of Tonight is the night.

Gotta love this Wright Track – cracking idea for a sample too. Yesterday was Betty’s birthday incidentally. I got round to mentioning it late and had to bash out a hack job piece ;o) Dig your blog by the way – especially the description of yourself. Class!

Oh and I forgot to say – I love her outfit in that picture!
