Get Well Steve.

January 21, 2011

Take as much time as you need. Your health comes first, but when you do come back, please give me an Apple TV. No not that, I mean a Jony Ive designed Apple branded 50″ high definition television. Thank you.

Random Nerdery.

January 14, 2011

Sometime last week while I was bed ridden and sick to my stomach, I found myself on an extremely high level of nerdiness. I found myself playing Earthbound on my Macbook Air using a PS3 controller. If you’re keeping score, that’s a Nintendo game on an Apple laptop using a Sony controller. What’s even geekier is that I had the presence of mind to realize that at that very moment, I was the antithesis of Microsoft. The only thing that was left is if the foot massager I was using ran some obscure version of Linux.

Honestly don’t give a crap about that sort of thing. I don’t care if people use Macs or PC’s or play games on their 360 or PS3’s or Wii’s, I just don’t give two shits. But a snap shot picture of me in my room that day, all evidence pointed to me as a Microsoft hater which I am not. Seriously though, I don’t care what kind of operating system someones toaster oven uses and if I heard two people arguing about why brand x is better than brand y I know I would come close to stabbing both idiots in the throat to prevent their fanboy genes from spreading to infect future generations. I’m completely indifferent to Microsoft.

The only thing about them that I hate is Steve Ballmer. Man, what an asshole douche.

What’s the point of this post? I have no idea.

It’s About Damn Time

I’m sure I’d be more excited if I didn’t own all 13 Beatles albums already. But I’m happy their music has “officially” entered the digital world.

The Standing Eight(May ’08)

8. Moleskine Paper: Using my Moleskine again after a 6 month hiatus.
7. Amphilophus Labiatus aka The Red Devil: Farewell to my five Clowns(The Furious 5) who wouldve grown way to large for my tank anyhow. They’re in a better more suiting home now. Hello to my solitary baby Red Devil.
6. 3G: If the next gen iPhone does indeed come out within the next few months and AT&T somehow manages to sell it for $200, I will have a new iPhone. If it’s anymore than two bills, I’ll definitely pass. I mean more than likely I’m gonna pass. Probably gonna pass on it…maybe. Maybe.
5. Man Up: There comes a time where you gotta just do it.
4. NBA Playoffs: The most television I watch all year. I live for the playoffs. Here’s hoping for a Lakers/Cavs or a Lakers/Celtics Finals. Go Clippers!
3. Canon G9: Before I go to Japan, I will have to get this camera. With custom grip and thumb rest.
2. P3: Fes vs. Arcana Heart: Should I buy Persona 3: Fes and Arcana Heart even though I have no time to play them? Play magazine gave P3 a perfect 10 and Arcana an 8.5, so my choice will be obvious if I decide to get one.
1. Staring Contest: I don’t care the outcome. Regardless if you win or lose, challenging Jessica Alba in a staring contest is always a win/win in my book.

Macworld Expo 2008 Recap

January 15, 2008

Time Capsule: An Airport Extreme with either a 500 GB hard drive for $299 or 1 TB for $499. I can’t believe I called this! Apple is stressing backing up wirelessly with Time Machine and I think it’s a good idea to incorporate it with the Airport Base Station. It would be nice to have a hefty terabyte available for Time Machine backup and it would look a whole lot slicker than my nasty ass Linksys router with it’s ugly protruding antennas.

New iPhone Features: New iPhone software available released for download. Now Google Maps has locate where you are using triangulation. Also the iPhone has webclips(up to 9) which are bookmarks you can add to your home page of sites you visit. You can send to multiple contacts using SMS texting which should have been available from the start. You can also rearrange icons and move them around to your liking. Which I like because I like customization. Oh and SDK will be released in February.

iTunes Rentals: Very cool. All movie studios are on board, over 1000 movies currently available. 30 days to start watching, 24 hours to complete once started. Pricing is $2.99, new releases $3.99 and $4.99 for HD movies. Having HD movies available is a huge deal.

iTV: This is very impressive. If I had a nice setup I’d love to have one of these. Play music, watch movies, video podcasts, Youtube videos, view photos through Flickr and now with iTunes rentals with HD titles? Wow. All this now at a cheaper price point($229) I hope this does well. The only thing missing is DVR capabilities.

Macbook Air: I want one. I love my slick black Macbook, but the Macbook Air makes my Macbook look so clunky and gigantic now. The thinnest laptop ever. The price is pretty crazy though with the cheapest version priced at $1800 and the next version at $3000. Ouch.

Macworld Expo 2008 Banner

January 13, 2008

Macworld Banner

Appleinsider posted several pics of the banner and slogan of this years Macworld Expo. I always get excited and extra geeked out this time of year. Anticipating what Apple is gonna do is always a crap shoot since they are the best at keeping new stuff hush hush but the fun is all of the Mac fanatics speculating and fueling the rumor mill of what we might or might not see. I doubt anything this year will be as world-attention-getting as last years iPhone announcement, but I have a feeling we will get something big.

I’ve been trying to figure out what “There’s something in the air” exactly means. Maybe it’s a hint that the new version of iPhone will in fact be 3G? New Airport Extreme?(Probably not) Maybe Apple is announcing that they plan on monetarily helping Google(like they need it) in obtaining the 700 Megahertz spectrum and have some wireless things in the works? Who knows? All I know is the tech tradeshow season begins and ends here at Macworld Expo. CES was just a little appetizer for tech heads, and regardless if people in the tech industry are Mac users or fans, they can’t deny that Macworld is the main course. All eyes will be on Apple on the 15th, with Steve Job’s Keynote at center stage. I can’t wait.

Unleashing Leopard

October 25, 2007

Come 6pm this Friday i’ll be in full on geek mode. I’ll be at the Apple store picking up the latest iteration of OSX dubbed “Leopard” and not long after it will be installed on my Macbook, and not long after that, all geek detectors within a five mile radius will explode.
